About Me

Although I'm a writer by education and profession (MFA Hamline University, BA University of Minnesota), I have a not-so-secret DIY and craft (of almost any kind) addiction.

I invite you to visit, diymaven.com, where I gather all my original how-tos and crafty musings.

When I'm not blogging or DIYing, I write fiction and explore photography.

Roundup: 10 DIY Photography Wall Art Projects

By: Diy maven May 16, 2012

created at: 05/16/2012

As a photography enthusiast, my display methods are pretty traditional. A perfectly processed photo (from Aspen Creek Photo), a Nielsen Bainbridge frame and I'm good to go. Of course there are many different ways besides the traditional method for displaying your photography. I've scoured the internet looking for the best of best. Here they are:

This first idea take traditional, small… Continue Reading

Cayce Zavaglia: Blurring the Line Between Craft and Art

By: Diy maven May 15, 2012

created at: 05/15/2012

Cayce Zavaglia's portrait work might look as if it's done in oil. It isn't. And although she considers them paintings, they aren't. Not in the strictest sense, anyway. No, Cayce's medium is wool. That's right, these works are, essentially, embroidery. To be specific, crewel embroidery. For those who compartmentalize crafts and Art, and therefore… Continue Reading

Do you still have a link or instructions for this origami star? http://www.curbly.com/users/diy-maven/posts/3189-how-to-fold-a-3d-four-point-star

Patti--There's a link to a tutorial in the post. At the time, that's the only one I found.

Yes, that is the flooring I am talking about.

Where do I find the instructions on the plywood flooring on the curbly website?

Thanks

No worries, Linda! "Choose File" should be in the upper left of the "insert/edit image". Here's a pic of what it looks like when I open it up:

This is what the window should look like after you click "Upload".

Then, after you click on the size (thumb, medium or large), then click on insert, which is hidden under the picture. (The arrow is pointing to it.)

If your windows don't look exactly like this, then I'm assuming I have different access due to my relationship with the site. If you know what I mean. Hope this helps!!

Linda here again.  Sorry to be so thick!  I am following.................. I think, but now, can't find 'choose file'.  (I do have my glasses on!)  So anyway, I can't follow through, unless I find the pics.

OH My GOD-this is pure genius! Thanks for sharing!

Hey Judy, Can you be more specific? What were they folded into?

Ok i give up , where is the directions to folded magzines ? Thank you , Judy
