I've been crafting for a fairly long time (I won't say how long because I don't want to date myself). In all my years of making stuff I can't believe it took me this long to discover the embroidery tool I'm using to create this easy wall art. I first stumbled across this technique on social media. Someone had posted a "Work in Progress" video, and they were causally punching away at some fabric, creating embroidered lines at breakneck speed. After some internet searching, I was able to locate what is currently my favorite tool: Everyone, meet the punch needle.
If you love to go antiquing as much as I do, then you've no doubt struggled with the conundrum of how to incorporate that beautiful new turn-of-the-century table into your mostly-modern living room. Have no fear, my friends, because today we're sharing some easy tips and tricks that will have you blending furniture from different eras in no time.
For some reason or another I'm obsessed with contact paper. Maybe it's because it's an easy way to transform objects, walls, anything really. It might be because shelf liner is cheap, or maybe it's the renter in me that loves how temporary it is. Whatever the case, it's a fact that I love vinyl. And it's a fact that I love to DIY, which is how this customized vinyl wall decal came to be.
I recently hung a gallery wall in my dining room using a combination of various frames and a couple other items, but first I scoured the internet for inspiration and a variety of gallery wall ideas to bring my boring white wall to life. Gallery walls add so much personality to a space, and you can customize them so many ways using new pieces, pieces you already own or a combination of the two.
Here's How to Start Your Gallery Wall Today, Even if Your Art Collection Isn't Complete
I don't know about you, but I swoon over a good, curated art gallery wall. My Pinterest boards are filled with gallery walls created by designers and really talented stylists/bloggers, and these inspire me to display my own pieces. But what do you do when you only have one or two vintage pieces in your collection? Unless you're a designer or stylist who makes a living out of finding treasures, it can take a while to curate a collection of art...
If you're like me, functioning without coffee is difficult. It's the first thing I make in the morning, and there's usually another cup or two brewing later in the day. So today I wanted to share a couple of free coffee quote printables... and they're made using actual coffee. Click through to find out more.
Summertime is all about kicking back, letting loose and enjoying some much needed relaxation time! Time to open the windows, let the breeze in, blast some tunes and be carefree - at least for a song or two. And these five prints based on popular songs this summer will be sure to remind you to take some time to just dance all your stress and worries away that might be hanging over your shoulder. It's great therapy and a whole lotta fun!
I love a quick art project! As I was preparing to (finally) hang some art on my walls, I was thinking of ways to keep my costs low and make my own wall art and the answer was as simple as making this paint scrape art with a few colors that matched the scheme of my home. Within 5 minutes, I had a colorful piece of art that I love.
I'm getting married in July (to the good sport pictured in the photo above) and I desperately wanted to have a photo booth at our wedding. But the price of photo booth rentals was prohibitive, so of course I started brainstorming ways to DIY one instead. Click through to check out my simple solution.
This summer is extra special because... I am celebrating my ten year anniversary with my husband! Seriously, it's crazy how fast time flies. To honor such a joyous occasion, we have decided to travel to Europe. Specifically, Paris and London! We have always talked about traveling more together, but that's always easier said then done when you have three young kids. And now, at last, we finally have a really good excuse to make that happen. I decided to create some graphic and modern wall art for our newly revamped kitchen to serve as a happy and positive reminder of our very special ten-day trip for our ten year anniversary and all for under $10! Do you sense a theme here?
This year for Sherwin-Williams National Painting Week, we tackled a community-based art project that exceeded all our expectations. We combined our favorite paint colors, our favorite community, and our favorite group of kids to create a Kids' Art Crawl! We wanted to get kids thinking about the role of art in their community, and make them feel special by putting their artwork up in a real gallery setting. It was sweet and moving, and we can't wait to tell you all about it.
Hello to my fellow renters! Here's the situation: I've been fighting with my kitchen ever since I moved into my apartment. It's completely functional, but it's not ideal for the following reasons: it's way too small, the cabinets do nothing to help visually, and the walls have been stained from cooking accidents of years past. I wanted to class the joint up a bit, and decided to install a fake backsplash by way of removable vinyl wallpaper.
Yesterday we told you about our plans to make over our old house before we put it on the market, and today I'm back to walk you through our design process. As far as I'm concerned, the design process is the stuff dreams are made of - you get to go wild with dreams and possibility. In fact, you have an obligation to do so.
While I always have to scale back (hello, budget), and redefine my dreams, I think examining the process is worthwhile. Have a look at the ideas we considered in bringing this room into all its glory.
Mother's Day is just around the corner (it's on Sunday the 14th - don't forget!). If you're anything like me, the holiday has crept up on you. There are so many different things to celebrate about our mamas (and grandmothers, spouses, and mother-figures), but what it ultimately comes down to is telling her you're thankful for her. Whether that means making her breakfast, bringing her flowers, or sending her a note in the mail, these (free!) Mother's Day printables can help you get the job done.
We say it every year – National Painting Week is our favorite week of the year, because the power of paint is never ending. Each year, Sherwin-Williams puts out the call to bloggers all over the country to refresh a space, change its perspective, or add more emotion through the transformative power of paint. Last year, we embarked on a community-based project, making over our beloved neighborhood preschool.
It was so fun and rewarding that...
