The Envelope Game: How to Have the Best New Year’s Celebration of All Time

by on Dec 29, 2018

Usually at the end of the year, I’m left thinking: “Holy cow – that was fast! How has another year gone by already??” That’s not the case this year, which is rare. These past twelve months have felt pretty long, and I’m totally ready to switch gears and hop into 2018 mode. I’m looking forward to welcoming in another new year, and to celebrate, I’m sharing with you this New Years printable game called The Envelope Game. It’s great for parties where everyone might not know each other, or if you’re celebrating with a bunch of introverts (shout out to my people) who might need a little party-participation push.

The Envelope Game: A printable parlor-style game to play at your new year's eve party

This New Years printable game consists of twelve envelopes, each with a different challenge or game inside.

To play, pull out envelopes as the party goes on, and follow the directions as a group. You can pull one every hour, in 30 minute intervals, or at random if you want to keep your guests on their toes.

The challenges inside don’t require any props or tools – they’re just simple parlor games. For example, you might be asked to make a toast to the new year, but you’re only allowed to speak in haiku format! Or you could be asked to hum your favorite song of 2017 and have the group guess what ditty it is. Keep reading – the printable envelopes are available below!

Whether you’re planning on partying ’till dawn, or staying at home watching the ball drop in Times Square, have fun and be safe this weekend. As for me, I’m planning on drinking my glass of champagne at 9:30 pm while in my pajamas, then going to bed shortly thereafter (#partyhard).
