A La Mode: 3 Fall Table Settings Inspired By Fall Fashion

by on Oct 31, 2016

If you’re stuck on how to pull together a fall table setting, simply look to your favorite fall fashions to give you some inspiration. Here are three “shoppable” fall table settings inspired by fall fashion.

Table Setting #1

The fashion inspiration:

This fall look has some casual elegance to it with the jeans, black heals, and camel colored peacoat. Black and white can be used for so much more than Halloween. Black and white pattern can also transition to fall decor. Here is the table setting inspired by the above fall outfit.

I like the mix of casual elements such as the wood and blue dinnerware paired with more elegant pieces like the delicate glassware and brass accents.

The Highlights:

Flowers arranged in a rectangular wooden container.

Two boards of different colors making up a floor.

1. If you want floral centerpiece but just don’t have the time or skills, order one to be delivered to your home. If you have a little DIY in you, separate the arrangement into two or three smaller floral arrangements with vases you have on hand.

2. If you have a larger table, a wood serving platter is functional and beautiful. Staining pre-cut wood planks could be a DIY alternative.

A blue three piece bowl and saucer set.

3. The black and white table cloth feels less “Halloweenish” when you pair it with the blue and peach tones. The great news is you can use this tablecloth for Halloween and Christmas decor.

Table Setting #2

The fashion inspiration:

Denim paired with a plaid blanket scarf is a staple in my fall fashion wardrobe. Blanket scarves can be purchased pretty inexpensively these days and are usually long (70- 76 inches) pieces of fabric. I decided to not only use a blanket scarf as inspiration, but also add one into the fall table setting.

I wanted this table setting to feel inviting, down to earth, and cozy. I see the centerpiece as magnolia leaf garland with dried Craspedia, pomegranates, and candles in the mix.

The Highlights

A scarf draped over a mannequin's torso.

A grey folded towel

1. Sewing a plaid table runner would be just as expensive as buying one of these blanket scarves from Target for $19.oo. The only problem you will have is choosing which one you want.

2. The chambray linen napkins would go with so many table settings throughout the year.

Two unfinished wooden coasters.

3. Fall is about gathering together and sharing a meal. These wooden serving platters are perfect for making the food the focal point. A more inexpensive option would be to grab your chainsaw and go cut a few for yourself.

A plant arranged in a glass that is clear.

4. Did you know you can buy live plants from Williams and Sonoma? For $15, these magnolia or eucalyptus leaves can be delivered fresh to your doorstep.

Table Setting #3

The fashion inspiration:

I really loved the purple paints with the buffalo check shirt. I think it gives the outfit more of a modern style than its usual outdoor style look. Buffalo check tablescapes mostly feel rustic, but I think buffalo check can be apart of a more modern fall table setting when paired with fun colors. I kept the table setting and color palette simple so the buffalo check pattern could stand out. Like in the fashion inspiration, the green is a great contrast to the blue buffalo check pattern. Plum and gold accents have a distinct fall vibe to keep this table setting from feeling like a summer picnic.

The Highlights

Multifaceted white egg shaped vase.

A table has many small white vases on it.

1. I really love white vases and simple vines.

A green spotted ceramic dish.

2. These emerald plates are pretty amazing. I know most people don’t have emerald plates so another option would be to add an emerald bowl to a white plate. I also think these mint green plates would work well too.

3. H&M has the best gold candle holders right now for less than $5.
