How to: Easy DIY Gilded Fall Centerpiece

by on Nov 16, 2015

Everybody loves to have a pretty centerpiece on the table, but who has the time to create a whole new centerpiece for every single season and every single holiday? I know I certainly don’t, which is why I came up with this solution – a beautiful gilded arrangement that only uses long-lasting elements that won’t die or rot within a week – such as faux flowers, succulent plants and uncarved pumpkins. Read on to check out the surprisingly chic final product.

And here’s the best part – it took under an hour to make, from start to finish! Here’s what you’ll need for your simple DIY gilded fall centerpiece:

Step

Begin by spray painting all of your faux flowers gold. This is such a great way to create seasonal decor that can be used over and over again. And it’s really quite affordable… I bought only sale items, and saved a bundle. To spray paint a faux flower with lots of petals (like a rose), I would recommend spraying one side, letting it dry, spraying the other side, and then picking it up and spraying anything you missed. Do wear gloves though, unless you want to end up with gold fingers like I did.

Once the paint has dried thoroughly, begin arranging your centerpiece. Start with the tallest elements – in this case, the succulents – and place them evenly separated on the table. Next, add the candles so those are spaced out well too. Then come the pumpkins and all of the faux flowers. And that’s it! Light the candles and watch your guests ooh and ahh over your perfectly styled tablescape.

This centerpiece can be easily transitioned to Christmas and even New Year’s Eve by removing the pumpkins and replacing them with festive greenery, metallic ornaments, bells or any other goodies you may have on hand.

And don’t forget to consider different colors… silver would be lovely, or copper would be oh-so-trendy. Happy styling everyone!
