I think by now it's pretty clear that I am madly in love with all things Scandinavian (evidence here and here).  The Danes, Swedes, and Norwegians just know where it's at when it comes to interior design, architecture, home decor, textiles, furniture, etc. etc.  Basically, they rock at life and making everything around them beautiful.  So, to celebrate that fact, I've rounded up seven inspiring Danish homes as a mid-week pick-me-up!

All of these homes were featured in Bolig Magazine, a Danish publication that I adore, but unfortunately don't understand a word of (I just look at the pictures).  If there are any Danish speakers in the house, I'd be charmed and indebted if you could translate some of the basic info from these featured homes.  Until then, sit back and let's enjoy the show!

Phew!  Mega inspiration!  So, which home's style were you attracted to the most?  I'm a big fan of Home #7 and Home #1.  I just love their playful use of color and pattern as well as all that incredible art!  I could definitely live in either of those spaces.

If you're up for an adventure, check out Bolig Magazine online and click around.  That's how I do it.

Happy Wednesday!

Your decors are great! feel like just grabbing one :) These interiors should be everyone's favourte

Ahhh, auto-translate...Well, "the potato rows" is the popular name for some very charming old houses in central Copenhagen - pics here - and "uldpude" means a wollen cushion.

Chris - Nah, that's total poetry!  ;)  Thanks - I'll give it a whirl for some of the other homes!

Capree, Chrome has a pretty handy auto-translate feature built in. It doesn't make poetry, but its useful for navigating sites. Here's how it renders "Home 1" above:

Imagine that Pippi Longstocking grew up, got family and house. I wonder if she would stay little as artist Sarah Hvass? Sarah's password decor is in fact fun and randomness, and it is clear to see in her three-storey house in the potato rows in Copenhagen, where she lives with her family.

"Things should preferably not fit too well together and it may look like as if they just put in from somewhere. I often just put stuff in, I like and it must fit in its own way, "says Sarah, who loves to find furniture and cases in markets around the country.

The artist's spontaneous approach to interior design has also led to unusual purchases such as a giant 1,800-century painting of flowers. Painting's size, most probably associate with a small castle, but it does not touch Sarah who has put it in the kitchen.

Room's cheerful feature is a yellow painted rocking chair with purple uldpude and 'Ring'-side table from Italian Paola C, purchased from Casa Shop. The painting above the sofa and the yellow painting on the left is painted by Sarah.

Maria - You, my lady, are amazing.  I'll send over a few links - you don't have to translate everything, I just really want to know the basic summation of the articles.  (Maybe who the photographer/stylist etc. are, if that's included, as well.)  Also, I've not heard of RUM, but I am on my way to check it out.  Thanks for the link!!  :D

We Danes love when the world notices us :-) Since we are only 5 mill. Danish-speaking people in the world, who would ever want to learn Danish? E-mail me the text you'd like translated and I'll see to it over the weekend. By the way - do you know the other big Danish interior Design magazine called RUM? It has a more international feel to it - whereas BoligMagasinet is more affordable, has DIY-project etc.

Lizzy - Home #5 is definitely at the top of my list, too!  It's actually the home that inspired me to do this post.  I love the color palette and yes, all that space!!

#5 - if I had that much open space, I'd cry for joy! :)

Chris - I just "read" the online version, though you might be able to get a subscription or find it in an especially awesome bookstore.  Not sure how much the hard copy would cost, though.  For now, I'm satisfied just by clicking on random links throughout the site!  ;)

Capree, do you get that in print? Subscription, or might I find it in a bookstore if I looked hard enough?

Nope, technically Finland is not part of Scandinavia.  It is a Nordic country, along with Iceland, and the three Scandinavian countries.  But Denmark, Norway, and Sweden have that separate distinction.  :)

Also, that home is wild!  I bet it has a hidden jet propulsion system; it looks like it could fly!  (Or at least float on that gorgeous lake - what a view!)

You forgot Finland! =)

This is one of my favorite vacation homes of all time: http://bit.ly/gl8aBL
