Recycled Bike Tire Wreath: Mock Tutorial

by on Dec 9, 2008

This recycled wreath project (super easy and cheap) is only a reenactment of one of the very first DIY homeowner projects I pulled off successfully.

I think fondly of my bicycle tire wreath and the many Christmas seasons it hung brightly on the front of our house, high above the front door.  In this time of resourcefulness, a LARGE wreath can be constructed from any number of round forms.  Here’s a mock tutorial of how I made mine.

Got it?

What you do:

1.  Wrap at least three or four strands of 6 ft. garland artfully around your bike tire.

2.  Before the last one goes on, start embedding lots of twinkly white lights.

3. Add the last strand of garland and more lights.

4. Either purchase a giant bow (I did a nontraditional color) or learn how to make giant bows from a florist or at Michael’s.  That lesson has held me in good stead throughout the years.

5.  Attach the bow and weatherproof ornaments if you want.

6.  Make a big loop from wire that wraps around the top of the wreath and twists together for strength to hang your inexpensive, easy, recycled bike tire wreath.
