With How To Tuesdays coming to an end, we’re wrapping up our weekly Threadbanger special by taking a lesson out of one of our favorite new books, 99 ways to cut, sew, trim, and tie your t-shirt, and answering a viewer question on how to properly dart your clothing for a better fit. Keep checkin back on Threadbanger.com for more cool shows and remember you can still catch Rob and Corinne every Friday on Thread Heads. We are always looking for great DIY ideas so be sure to send your projects in! And don’t forget to subscribe to our podcast on iTunes!
First, cut off the bottom hem…
and cut about two inches off each sleeve.
Then cut out a wider “boat neck”.
Turn the shirt inside out, and mark four equal triangles.
Pinch the fabric according to your markings…
and pin.
After pinning all four darts, sew along the drawn lines.
You’ve just created closed darts!
For open darts, cut out a triangle shape and sew it closed.
