How To: Style Pantone Rose Quartz and Serenity with Black

by on Feb 22, 2016

I will admit that pastel colors are not my favorite so when Pantone revealed the two colors of the year it challenged me a little. I do have this theory that black can make any color awesome so it was the first thought in my head when trying to style with these colors. Here are three spaces that show you how you can style Rose Quartz and Serenity with good old fashioned black.

The first styleboard is centered around the soft pink chair from West Elm. Add some black and you might want this chair in your living room.

The black allows the pink to settle in with the neturals. Having a pink chair will always make a statement but in this space it blends in well with the textures and the colors. The pink is soft and feminine but the modern lined sofa and black gives the space a little masculinity. My favorite black paint is Benjamin Moore Black Onyx.

The next moodboard was inspired by this West Elm Duvet Cover

Here you see how Serenity Blue fits well with black as well. Serenity is a soft color and it matches will with the softness of the gold but in contrast with the modern lines and textures it becomes a more edgy and modern space. On another note, the West Elm rug in the styleboard could be the poster child for masculine Rose Quartz and Serenity.

How many of you, if this pedestal was in your bathroom, would pull this out of your bathroom the first chance you got?

Now would you reconsider? I don’t know about you but this styleboard is making me want to install one! It’s hard to see in a styleboard but using the black patterned tile on the floor would really make the pink pedestal somethin’ special. Adding modern lightness with white large hex tile on the wall and soft brass fixtures finishes the bathroom.  It is not pictured above but I think I would add brass faucet/shower hardware too.

I love how black helps Rose Quartz and Serenity get out of the nursery moodboards and become more grown up. I do think dark grey and dark brown could have a similar effect. FYI… all of the links in the captions go straight to the source where you can buy any of these products.  You know..just in case you just have to have it! What do you think about Rose Quartz and Serenity? Please do tell!
