Do It Sparkly: DIYable Sequin-lined Lampshade

by on Dec 29, 2014

This sequin-lined lampshade from DaWanda is like a perpetual celebration of New Year’s Eve. Available in a variety of sequin colors, the lampshade clocks in at 86.90 Euros (about $106 US), but it looks like the maker doesn’t ship to the US. What’s a Yankee to do? Make one, of course. A black lampshade is easy to find, ($49 on Amazon), and just about any fabric store in the US will carry sequins–both strung and fabric. Gluing the string kind would be tedious compared to fabric application. Fabric.com has some beautiful sequin fabric from which to choose, all $17 or less a yard.  Because we’d only need as much fabric as our lampshade is high, we’d only need 1/3 of a yard to cover the inside of the lampshade mentioned earlier as it’s only 11″ high…that’s $5.66 in sequins. Not bad!

  1. I love this SO MUCH. I hate my current dining room light fixture and have been considering a drum pendant type fixture (or even the triple pendant fixture with three different NYMO drums) from IKEA but it seems kind of plain for the space. Embelleshing the inside with some sparkle is EXACTLY the kind of idea that would make it shine! (No pun intended!) Thanks Maven!
