I know that pumpkin carving is a significant tradition for many on Halloween, as is cleaning up all the goopy leftovers after the event (which is no fun when cleaning said goop off of small toddling people). While it would be almost blasphemous to not carve a pumpkin at our house, it wouldn’t hurt to try some of these non-carving ideas! Clever use of wire turns this pumpkin (above) from an orange bore to something much more whimsical- and the best part is, you can save the wire for next year!
And we all know glitter is a fast way to make dollar store pumpkins look like something with a larger price tag. Placing them on candlesticks is an interesting way to display them, too!
If you have lots of time (and patience), these thumbtack pumpkins are absolutely stunning!
How about covering one in lace? I’ve also seen this done using black lace tights, but the overall effect is very sophisticated.
Here’s an idea that uses every crafter’s favorite sticky stuff- Mod Podge. This project is versatile in the fact that your pumpkins can go from cutesy to chic depending on what fabric you choose to slap on your pumpkin.
Pumpkins don’t have to just rest on surfaces- they can hang from them too! Metallic-painted pumpkins create a mobile-effect when hung from a light fixture!
