Water Damaged to Wonderful: A Chic Dresser Makeover!

Water Damaged to Wonderful: A Chic Dresser Makeover!

This flea market find was in dire need of some TLC.  Fortunately, it landed in just the right hands!  Ready for the after?  Read on!

Layla Palmer, a blogger (The Lettered Cottage) and interior designer, picked up this water damaged dresser at a local flea market.  After an initial "distressed-style" makeover (seen here), she decided it needed something a little more.  Ultimately, a $998 Anthropologie dresser held the inspiration she needed: numbered drawers!  Layla set to work creating a custom version (the numbers represent her wedding anniversary) that I think looks about a thousand times better than the Anthropologie inspiration.  Also, check out those sweet rope pulls!  Genius.

Layla shared the full process for the makeover, including step-by-step instructions for creating your own version, so be sure to check out The Lettered Cottage for more!

Not my taste sorry - seemed to go from potentially awesome to ordinary. But each to their own. Just saying.

What a neat idea to turn a project into a neat personalized anniversary gift!  My sister has been looking for personalized anniversary gifts from Pittsburgh for her anniversary and this will be right up her alley!  I love the rope drawer handle too!

Thanks for the sweet feature, Capree! :-D

The mirror part actually made it's way over to our neighbors house, Jana. We have a 13 year old neighbor named Elizabeth that fell in love with it and wanted it in her room. :-D

Jana - I think Layla has something planned for the frame/mirror!  No doubt she'll be posting something soon, so I'd keep my eyes on The Lettered Cottage. :)

I liked the frame on the "before" dresser, it's a pity Layla has put it away. Maybe it was damaged too much?  However, the rope pulls are awesome!
