Felt Wall Tiles: Crazy or Cool?

Felt Wall Tiles: Crazy or Cool?

Unless you've been living under a rock, you've probably noticed the wool felt craze that's been going on the last year or two.  People are using it to make pretty much everything imaginable, from simple circular coasters to laser-cut rugs and now: geometric wall tiles!

Designed by London-based design studio HIVE, these modular tiles are made from 100% wool felt and attach to your wall with a self-stick, non-toxic adhesive.  This "wall-mounted decorative system" takes inspiration from architectural cladding and flock wallpapers.  Available in 10 colors (!!), they're sold in packs of 22 or 6.

Personally, I love the idea of using these in a playroom, music room, or even in commercial spaces.  The real question is, of course, would you use these in your home?  If so, where would you install them?  Would you keep things calm with a monochromatic scheme or let loose with a mixture of colors?  Let me know what you think in the comments!

P.S. If you're truly smitten with these felt wall tiles, you can purchase them through Bouf.

Looks great. Sounds like a great Cricut project for a kids room or playroom.Attaach to cork board for a beautiful borad.

I say these modules are really cool. They definately stick out. A real eye catcher!

Jenee - I agree completely!  And you make a great point about using them in an apartment, etc.  Not sure how removeable these are though, but it's something to consider!

I agree with Jenée; photographs well, might look cheap-y in person.

Those designs look very cool in pictures but-- as is sometimes the case with design photos-- I suspect they would just look cheap in person. I know there's a felt craze but I will always associate felt with grade school projects. So I think they'd be great for a kid's room or play room but not in more formal rooms.

However, I do think this is a GREAT idea for apartment dwellers who can't paint-- just use some removeable adhesive on the felt pieces or on any fabric cut to a particular design.

@Chris  Right?  Kind of odd!
