by on Jul 26, 2013

Oh, Pioneer

Throwing the perfect party can definitely be a challenge. But throwing the perfect bonfire party? That one is pretty doable, actually. Bonfires are super laid back and much easier to throw together. So what will you need to throw the perfect bonfire party? Any combination of these recipes, DIYs, and decor elements will do just fine.

First things first. You’re going to need to DIY a bonfire. After doing a little research, I found this video tutorial. It’s a great jumping off point and also includes safety tips. Obviously, safety is very important when it comes to large open flames.

Or for more of a mini bonfire, you can gather sticks from the surrounding area and set them up the same way you would use larger branches or logs.

Now that you know how to build a bonfire, let’s talk about the second most important thing to have at your party: casual and tasty food.

To keep things easy, hot dogs and sausages cooked over the open bonfire flame would be a fun way to get guests involved with the cooking. It would also take some of the pressure off of hosting – no need to cook ahead of time!

Of course, chili is a good option too. And it can be used to top hot dogs too if you wanted to have both available for guests.

For dessert? S’mores and toasted marshmallows are the obvious choice.

Something like Parkin cake (a soft cake recipe that originated in England) is a good option too though. Or whip up a few dozen fruit skewers, which are super easy to make and eat.

Grab a couple of coolers to keep drinks cold around the fire.

White dishes have black accents.

And don’t forget about plates for the the hot dogs and mugs for beverages and chili.

Make sure you have simple seating for guests and a few blankets in case it gets chilly.

And if you really want to get fancy, you could always make a handful of these DIY tripod stools.

So those are the basics for a fun and easy bonfire party. Now who is ready to throw one?
