Decor Disputes: Should Brad Pitt Stick to Acting?

by on Nov 20, 2012

What, you may ask, does Brad Pitt’s acting ability and disputing decor have in common? When Brad enters the world of furniture design, that’s what. Last week the actor unveiled his limited edition collaboration with renowned furniture maker Frank Pollaro, who is known for creating exemplary reproductions of Art Deco pieces. The partnership began a few years ago when Pollaro designed and installed a desk in Pitt’s French chateau and spotted the actor’s sketches of furniture. Pitt has been dabbling in design since the early 90’s when he ‘discovered’ Mackintosh and Frank Lloyd Wright.

The Pitt-Pollaro collection of twelve pieces includes a bed, tables, chairs and a marble bathtub for two (that thing that looks like a sitz bath in the lower right handcorner above). Prices, as they say, are available upon request. Which, of course, means if you have to ask you probably can’t afford it.

Here are some highlights to ponder.

Pollaro hints that a club chair like this might fetch upwards of $45k.

Several tables in the collection have these similar one-piece, zig-zag leg constructions.

The bed, which is the pièce de résistance of the collection, took two years to make because of engineering issues associated with the design.

So…what do you think? Has Pitt hit the mark with his designs or should he stick to acting?
