It’s full-on fall, which means you have an excellent excuse to give your home a mini makeover! Or in this case, your dining room. The trick to styling any space for Autumn is finding that nice balance between modern pieces and combining them with warm and seasonal elements that really translate as homey and cozy. With these simple steps, your dining room will be ready for fall in no time!
Step
Start with a clean slate. Exchange your year-round decor for your fall pieces by storing them in bins or boxes and putting them into storage. This can really eliminate clutter!
Step
Working on one element at a time, begin with the backdrop or walls. This will be the first thing that grabs your attention in the space. Wreaths are a great piece to hang on the wall, mirrors or on your framed art. You can also opt for garland if you prefer or even both! Sticking with natural textures and colors will keep the space feeling modern.
Step
Now it’s time to focus on the dining room table. Depending on the shape of your table, start with placing a runner or even a table cloth with a simple design. This is a great way to ground all your elements that you are going to use without having them look like they are floating in space.
Step
Add a small burst of color in your favorite palette! We went with caramel, gold and yellow tones that really compliment and contrast with the silver metallic pieces in the space. You can use fresh flowers or a simple dry arrangement, depending on what you love the most.
Step
Now you can add a fun sculptural piece! We chose antlers for their great shape and texture.
Step
To balance out the look you have so far, introduce a bowl filled with autumn-toned contents like Indian Corn, mini pumpkins, acorns and oak leaves or even red apples!
Step
Lastly, you want to create a warm and welcoming ambience! Add your favorite scented candle(s), bring out a wool blanket, drape a sheep skin on a chair or add a pillow to the mix! Anything that makes you want to just curl up with a warm cup of cider.
Just like that, you have one room down. Using these simple steps as a guide will make it a breeze for whatever space you tackle next!
Simple and lovely. Nice job, Lidy. I’m ready to snuggle.
Thanks so much Chris! I love decorating for every and any season…but all in moderation. Unless it’s Christmas of course. That’s a different story 😉
OMG! LOVE this. Where’d you get the chairs?
