In this recap of 2011 makeovers, we turn our attention to furniture. From dumpster finds to brand new furniture to vintage pieces, nothing was safe from a makeover. All inspire gasps and even one controversy! So read on and hold on to your hats.
First up is Theresa’s upholstery class project, which went from mauve to marvelous.

In ONE DAY, Ellen took this chair from floral…
to fantastic.
Rebecca didn’t want to shell out the cash for the chairs she wanted, so she bought new, similar chairs and had them reupholstered.
Now they suit her style AND checkbook.
This piece started as a door….
and ended up a toddler bed!
Speaking of kiddos, check out this makeover from Miranda, in which she turned a TV stand….
into an adorably, colorful play kitchen.
Color was key in Jesse’s very brown and dated side table makeover too.
Now it’s a cheeky shadow of its former self!
For those waiting for the controversial part of this post, here it is. In the ‘before’ picture Billie’s MCM dresser looked like it came straight off a vintage store’s floor. Now take a deep breath and scroll down.
My fellow Curbliers were split on the re-do. Some mourned the passing of an icon. Others applauded the ‘pop’ of the after.
Craigslist is always filled with pianos. If those wanting to unload them would only see Jill’s makeover of her old upright, they just might delete the listings.
Who’d want to part with this??
And last but not least is Beth and Nick’s buffet makeover. It looked barely operable before.
Now it’s bright, clean and ready for another 100 years of love.
