Gift Guide: 14 Unique Gifts for Those Who Have Everything

by on Dec 10, 2018

From seasoned DIYers, Martha wannabes, lovable geeks, young ones or the young at heart, there’s something for everyone on this gift guide no matter what the budget. What’s better is that these gifts are unique, so they’re perfect for those that have everything, which is just about everybody on my Christmas list these days. Well, it’s not like they have everything. It more like they’re hard to buy for. But be that as it may, we’ll start with DIYers, shall we?

GL 350 BMoMa
Amazon

 1. I love this oh-so-blue Trusco Deluxe Tool Box (Kelyu Hisashi, 1947) available from the MoMA for $120. It’s a work of art, no??

3. See that little house on the bottom left in the picture above? It’s a tape measure, and they’re available in ash and walnut from the Japan Trend Shop for $62. BUT I was thinking that they might even be DIY able somehow… might work on that, so stay tuned.

Batman blueprintOliver Gal
Oliver Gal Artist Co.

4. As for our favorite geeks… check out this blueprint! It’s inspired by “real vintage patent drawings & illustrations” of, in this case, Batman (so cool). It’s from Oliver Gal Artist Co. and it comes in 3 sizes (from $160 to $300). If Batman isn’t your thing, they also have other blueprints including a 1938 Fassin Camera and a 1955 Gibson Les Paul Guitar.

R2-D2 teapot
Think Geek

5. Head over to Think Geek for this squeal-worthy R2D2 teapot. Love, love, love! And it’s only $35. A small price to pay for much geek joy.

Things Will Work Out Pillow
Walker Art Store

6. Now let’s turn to home-furnishings… I’m always on the lookout for cool pillows. Everyone needs more pillows, right? The popular “Things Will Work Out” design is now available on a cushion for $68 from the Walker Art Museum.

Wobble bowls
Studio Kirchmer

7. Remember how Weebles wobbled but they didn’t fall down? That’s exactly how these Wobble Bowls work. The maker says that the round-bottom bowls rock and spin but won’t tip over. Delightful.

Set of 3 air plant standsPure Modern
The Sill

8. It’s part plant, part statue, and all beautiful. This trio of plant stands comes with air plants too (all for $50), and can ship anywhere in the U.S. Very low maintenance makes it a perfect gift for those minimalists that might not have the greenest of thumbs.

Ceramic planter
World Market

9. If the person on your gift list does have a green thumb, then this absolutely gorgeous planter might just make them swoon. Sold at World Market for $25.

11. If your looking for a gift for your more free-spirited friend or family member, how about this sleek copper palo santo holder? Palo santo is a fragrant wood that, when burned, is believed to clear out bad energies — plus, it smells amazing. Find this on The Citizenry for $65.

Andy Warhol Soup Crayons
MoMA

12. Let’s lighten things up a bit and turn an eye to the kiddos at heart… First is this can of Andy Warhol Soup crayons from the MoMA store. It’s only $10 ($9 for members), and is perfect for the artistic type who just loves to color. Plus, the crayons come in awesome colors like “Tomato Soup” and “Yellow Banana.” Cheeky.

Cuckoo clock
SF MoMA

13. Again, clocks make great gifts for the person who has everything, and if you’re shopping for someone with more whimsical stylings, then this modern cuckoo clock for $100 ($90 member price) is a great fit.

The Fire Votive Holder is actually by Iittala and not Dwell Studios… just a little heads up in case anyone is still looking for it.
