Back in 1977 a Sylvania 25" color console TV would set you back a whopping $530. Adjust for inflation, that would cost us $1,840 today*. Ouch. Next time you see an old console TV, keep that in mind and then think of these makeovers.

Cool blue and a center shelf make this makeover irresistible.

 to nice:
Erin turned her old TV into a new doggie bed.
This MCM model was converted into a home bar:

Okay, all of these were cool, but my favorite is this conversion, which also went from TV to bar. Check it out:

The maker tiled the top and inserted a wine bucket for chilling.
LED rope lights were added into the interior, which, when the red velvet curtains are closed (via a proper mechanical 'pull string'), give the bar a very theatrical look. No 'before' on this one, I'm afraid, but to read more about the project, visit Alpine Butterfly.

I have mine! Nice idea just don't see any pics..

i HAVE MY GRANDMAS IN MY GARAGE NOW BUT DON'T KNOW HOW TO GET T.V. OUT. I NEED HELP QUICK BECAUSE HUBBY WANT TO TAKE IT TO THE RECYCLE PLACE. HE SAYS IT IS DANGEROUS TO TAKE APART.

I have wanted to put an aquarium in one for a long time.

Back in 1978 maded mine into a changing table, painted, padded top, stored blankets down below. 5 kids later, repainted and put Aquarium in bottom and one on top. Still have. They are very well made, nice box shape.

I made an aquarium out of my old console tv.  It holds a 20 gallon aquarium perfectly. we call it the "fish" network, "all fish, all the time".   Awesome Ideas, thanks!

I love the blue...can't help but think that sitting on a repurposed table of the same color, it would make a lovely rustic china cabinet.

I knew it!  DH just threw ours out a few months ago - I told him someone, somewhere might want it do repurpose.  Oh well! - thanks for posting.

like the dog bed!

How cool are these!  You are amazing!  I will now be looking for old tvs lol

How do you get the TV out?

Very Very good idea! What an eye u have.  And the paint jobs are wonderful also! Craft on!

LOVE THESE!!! Wishing now I had NEVER gotten rid of our old one! But I have enough "junk around here" as my hubby calls it... waiting to be made into something else... If I had kept all of that stuff, my hubby would have had to move out lol ;-) Thank you for sharing! I know what I am looking for as my next piece!!!! Thanks for sharing! I will be back often for many more visits! :D

My bf would have a fit if he saw this site! He fixes TV's/old electronics for a living. But I do think these ideas are really super cool! I'd be all for gutting a yucky 70's TV.

In the 70's our Dad made our tv console into a desk.  Now my daughter uses it....very heavy and sturdy!!!

LOVE the dog bed!
