DIY Idea: Make a Colorful Two-Toned Lamp Shade!

by on Sep 22, 2011

If you’re looking for an affordable way to spruce up your decor or add a playful pop of color, you’re in luck!  We’ve just found the perfect DIY solution for you.  Read on!

Canadian lifestyle mag Chatelaine shares this simple idea for turning ordinary fixtures into extraordinary customized statement pieces!  Sourcing from every DIYer’s favorite, IKEA, they take two plain wicker pendant lights, add a few coats of colorful spray paint (inside and out), and voila!  Instant color explosion!

Aside from the 10 minutes it would probably take to complete, my favorite thing about this project is how easily customizable it is.  Navy and turquoise not your thing?  Try black and white, orange and pink, green and light grey.  The options are ENDLESS.

Check out Chatelaine’s step-by-step tutorial for tips and tricks, as well as details on the specific colors and supplies they used!
