Hello! I’m Rebekah from Potholes and Pantyhose where I share and photograph detailed tutorials of my DIY projects, recipes, photography tips and remodeling endeavors. I am in the middle of remodeling both our living and dining rooms.
This year, I’ve been on a mission to replace most of household cleaners and personal care items by my own homemade versions. I am concocting these household replacements with little more than what I have on hand or what I can find at the organic market.
The links under each of these homemade products will send you to its original post on my own site, where I will break down the cost for you in detail and provide for you the recipe so that you can make these items yourself!
I’ve already shared this with most of the Curbly readers before, but just in case you missed it, here a recipe for Simple Lip Balm. My hubby and I go through inordinate amount of lip balm. And at $3 a tube, it was beginning to add up. I wanted to find a way that I could circumvent the cost, the unnecessary added chemicals and the need for store-bought lip balm. For approximately $.25 a tube, I had my very own lip balm without the chemicals.
This recipe for Eye Makeup Remover only requires two ingredients. And, it ends up costing $1.13 for 3.5 oz.
This recipe is so simple, that it shouldn’t be called a ‘recipe’. Using old fashioned Oatmeal and a coffee grinder, find out how to make a simple Face Wash Recipe that costs approximately $.01 or less per usage.
I have always had very sensitive skin that dries out if I even look at it wrong. After several tries, I came up with a Cheap, Organic Moisturizer recipe that works wonderfully-without it being greasy or smelly. It costs approximately $.75 per 2.5 oz.
With three ingredients, your store bought laundry soap can easily be replaced with a homemade version. This Easy Laundry Soap will cost you only $.05 per load.
Lastly, I have several recipes packed into one post-Homemade Household Cleaners. From Drain Cleaners, to Furniture Polish to Chrome Polishers, I have slowly rid myself of caustic chemicals and pricey cabinets full of store-bought cleansers.
Thanks again, Chris for having me here today. Feel free to stop by my site, Potholes and Pantyhose, for more recipes, crafts and remodeling projects. I would love to hear from you! Love-Rebekah.
I just happened to find this site by dumb luck
I am very impressed with all your DIY’S!!!
I made the facial moisturizer. Which was awesome. But after a week it went moldy. How do you keep that from happening?
