The “Does It Work” Challenge: Cleaning Floors with Wax Paper

by on Mar 15, 2012

We’re halfway through cleaning and organization month at Curbly and all week we’ve been putting housekeeping tips and tricks to the test. Cleaning windows with newspaper and coffee filtersPolishing silver with baking sodaUsing wax paper instead of Swiffer cloths. And today I’m subbing Swiffer cloths with wax paper. It’s cheaper, for sure, but does it work? Read on to find out…
This one really excited me. Probably because I have 1900 square feet of hardwood floors to clean and (TMI) I shed a LOT.

I pulled out a length of wax paper long enough to fit in my sweeper and took it for a spin in my front hall.

It did a decent job of corralling the lint and hair, but it sounded like it was scratching my floors. I didn’t see any evidence of that, though. And when I flipped the Swiffer over?

Nada. Zero. Zilch. Could have stuck this in a tin of cookies. (Not recommended.)

So, for kicks I put a Swiffer cloth on and whirled it around the exact same area.

Now that’s what I’m talking about.

So, wax paper. Does it work?

Let’s just say, I will not be cutting my Swiffer budget anytime soon.

Tomorrow is the last day of “Does It Work?” Challenge. Come back to see me attempt to clean my dishwasher with Kool-Aid. Will it work?

Pssst… if you have anything you’d like me to try for future editions of the “Does It Work?” Challenge, please leave me a comment!
