How To Make Recyclable Sheet Metal Gift Bows

by on Dec 6, 2010

Positively Splendid shows you how to make blossoms out of sheet metal. These little flowers are magnets, but I’m thinking metal gift bows, or even Christmas tree ornaments.  A little creative metal may offer a welcome relief as I come down off my cheap-white-twinkly-lights from hell decorating weekend.  Amy provides your free downloadable template here.

And then you need to run around your house and gather up these items:

Sharpie or other permanent marker
Sheet metal
Metal shears
Spray paint in various colors
Dimensional foam adhesive dots
Gorilla glue
Hot glue gun/sticks
Burlap, twine, buttons and pearl accents to finish

Then Amy takes you right through her entire tutorial. Be sure to read the caution about working with sharp sheet metal. The great thing is that you can do these up quaint and cute or industrial and modern. Finish them up to be ultimately used as magnets or ornaments, but attach them as the gift bow to start. Recyclable metal gift bows–sounds good.
