For the past few years I've been amassing my own personal collection of mercy glass. I love how it feels classic, yet modern and can fit in with virtually any color scheme. So I was really excited when Krylon came out with their own do-it-yourself paint,
Homemade lollipops – actually homemade anything! – are just so much better than store-bought. Sure there's a recipe to follow, but there's also room to let your creativity flow and make something really yours with personal touches and adjustments. So, can you guess the main ingredient in these Picasso-inspired lollipops?
Some would say I have a bit of a "problem" with paint swatches. When I walk into a home improvement store I've got to get my hands on them... with no real plan of painting. When I get home they go into a box in my studio and there they remain. Until now that is, because I just came across these boxes that are perfect for little gifts or organizing office doodads.
Butter. It makes everything better. But what could possibly make butter better? Honey and summer fruits of course! Not as sweet as jam, not as salty as plain butter – just delicious and perfect for a special breakfast treat. Let's make some Blackberry Honey Butter!
I'm sort of a cocktail aficionado...in that I have a fully-stocked bar cabinet in my house. My favorite parts are the little things that take a drink over the top; that next level that will have your friends asking for your secret. And, friends, flavored syrups are a great way to get there. Check out how you can whip up some of your very own in your kitchen!
When I'm not losing a pair of sunglasses to life, I'm losing them to scratches. I am awful at keeping them in a case or pouch while they're not on my head! That means they're in my purse, banging around and scraping up against whatever happens to be floating around in my bag that day. I just couldn't find a pouch that fit my requirements, but then I saw this sweet project idea to make my own!
It's no secret that we all have pieces in our homes that we once loved and now are just tired of looking at. Maybe they're tucked away in a closet because we feel guilty about tossing them just yet, or they're still out because you've yet to buy a replacement piece, or maybe they're in the Goodwill pile in your guest room (Guilty.). But sometimes all it takes is a glimmer of potential to renew your love of something. Like, oh, say maybe a plain ceramic lamp.
Sometimes temporary is just what the doctor ordered, but that doesn't mean this line of cardboard furniture from KARTON isn't sturdy and durable. Lightweight? Yes. Easy to assemble? You bet. Poor quality? No such luck.
Two things I look for in an outdoor project: inexpensive and with a modern look. This bird feeder constructed out of reclaimed lamp globes fits the bill on both counts, and manages to defy gravity all at the same time – want to know the secret to making your own?
We told you about our favorite pieces from Redefine Home, and now it's time to show you how we might use some of them in a room. Inspiration comes in all shapes and sizes, and if you're normally a do-it-yourselfer it's nice to look outside the normal places every once in awhile for sparks in creativity. Visualizing how a room might come together in your mind's eye is key to having all of the right elements in place once everything starts to come together.
