String lights are my favorite things to make anything magical. This DIY project adds a little Valentine’s flare to the common discount store light using ping pong balls. Whether you string these up in your home or use them as a centerpiece on your table, these string lights might be the easiest, and loveliest, DIY you’ll ever do.
Materials
- String of LED string lights. (I got mine at Ikea) You could use leftover christmas lights.
- Craft knife
- White ping pong balls (You can buy a bunch at Amazon)
- Hot glue gun
- Craft paper
- Stickers (optional)
- Scissors or heart shaped paper punch
Step
Cut out your heart shapes. I used my heart shape paper punch.

Use hot glue to attach two heart shapes over the wire. If you can find heart shaped stickers large enough they will work as well.

I did have small heart stickers so I spaced them out between the bigger hearts.

Ping Pong ball string lights are not anything new, but here is the “how to” just in case this is your first time to see this project. Use your exacto knife to cut an X on the back of the light. You dont need to mark the X… I did this to show you where to cut. Simply stick the LED bulb on the strand inside the ping pong ball.
This is it…you are done in less than an hour!
String them up and feel the love.
The hearts stay on the strand well but can easily be taken off…just in case you want to switch your string lights up for a different holiday.
Super easy and super festive.
