Easy DIY Snowy Mountain Napkin Holder

A napkin holder is one of those (usually) mundane dining items that you never think about until you need it. And typically, napkin holders aren’t exactly visually exciting. Unless you make one yourself! Today I have a fun, super simple project that will up your napkin game exponentially. Materials

 

• Handheld saw
• 1/2 inch thick wood cut into three pieces: (2) equilateral triangles with 6 inch sides, (1) 6 x 2 inch rectangle 
• Acrylic craft paint in white, blue and green
• Wood glue
• Paint brush
• Pencil
• Sandpaper
• Blue painter’s tape

Step

Begin by cutting your wood into two equilateral triangles (6 inches on each side) and one rectangle (6 x 2 inches). Sand the edges. Paint the top two inches of both triangles white and set them aside to dry. Be sure to paint both sides of each triangle.

Next, paint the rectangle a dark green color. Let the top and sides dry, and then paint the bottom and let that dry as well.

Once the white paint has dried, place a piece of painter’s tape across it where you want the blue section to begin.

Paint the bottom section light blue as shown above. Repeat the process on the sides and backs of both triangles.

 

Step

Once everything has dried thoroughly, apply a thin line of wood glue to the edges of the rectangle and attach the triangles. Wipe away any excess glue.

 

The finished product is super cute… a modern take on a snowy mountain motif.

 

Just tuck the napkins in between the “mountains” and display proudly on the table! Your guests are sure to love it.

 

This will work with small and large paper napkins, so you don’t have to stick to one size. And you can experiment with the colors too… if you’re not into the snowy mountain theme, just switch up the colors and try different tape angles for a color blocked look. Have fun with it!
