Round Up: 6 Ways to Cover Ugly Ceiling Light Fixtures

We’ve all seen our fair share of ugly ceiling light fixtures. We’ve also see our fair share of DIY ceiling light fixture cover ups. Here are six of our favorites ceiling light covers, all of which can be adapted to various styles so they serve as much as how-to’s as inspiration for our own creations. Enjoy!

Emily's crystal light fixture makeover

Emily dispensed with the glass “boob light” shade and wired up some faceted crystal baubles to glam up her unsightly fixtures with these simple ceiling light covers. Click here for all the details.

Using barrel shades to cover an unsightly ceiling light isn’t new, but my way of attaching on TO the fixture is. I used earth magnets, which means no wiring which means a perfect flush mount to the ceiling. Visit this post to see how I did it.

DIY Strip light cover up

Our last entry comes from HGTV and the tutorial is a quick and dirty, no images, text only deal. But it sounds easy enough to do, and it’s the perfect way to cover STRIP lighting fixtures. These two were made for $3.00! I’ll give you a hint on how they were made: A barrel shade was cut in half lengthwise and attached to the fixtures. Clever, no?
