The Ab-Fab FabCab

by on Mar 31, 2010

FabCab is short for Fabulous Cabin and it lives up to its name. The timber frame kit home debuted at the 2010 Seattle Home Show to onlookers’ delight. The kit is shipped to the homeowner and then erected by a licensed contractor. Is it DIYable? Since the kit comes in pre-cut parts, possibly, if you have experience with construction of that sort.

Livingroom decoration ideas to explore.

The kits are chock full of eco-friendliness including sustainable Doug Fir and low VOC pains. Solar systems, geothermal heat pumps, green roofs and the like can be added as the homeowner chooses.

Make your kitchen outstanding by exploring new kitchen hacks.

The cabins come in three different sizes ranging in 300-450 sf (studio) to 600-800 sf (whole house), which includes two bedrooms. The medium size sells for 85K and includes materials only. Permits, deliver and construction (done by that licensed contractor mentioned earlier) are not included. This summer, FabCab will be coming out with a pre-fab line of homes that will be debuted at Dwell on Design.
