Le Bean Bag Bed via the Dragons’ Den

by on Oct 20, 2009

If ‘Dragons’ Den‘ is familiar to you, then you’re a fan of BBC America, like me. The program–or should I say, ‘programme’?–features five successful entrepreneurs who listen to pitches from those with an idea or product looking for investors. (If it sounds familiar, perhaps you’ve seen the American rip off, I mean, version called Shark Tank.) One of the show’s contestants was Tracie Herrtage whose product was Le Beanock, a hanging bean-bag-bed. Ms. Herrtage pitched her idea and came away with an offer from one of the Dragons–£54,000 or 49% stake in her company. Since her appearance on the reality t.v. show, Ms. Herrtage has been swamped with e-mails and now has the cash for a proper advertising campaign.

So what’s the moral of this story? That a good idea can sell? That reality t.v. isn’t all bad? I dunno, but Le Beanock could be cool for meditating, relaxing or just hanging around. (heh) It’s available in small and large sizes. Prices range from $250 to $1,300 US. For more information, head on over to lebeanock.com.
