How to Make a 2-Toned Button Window Shade

by on Apr 24, 2009

Vibrant green and blue shade on window next to ceramic containers.

With the right buttons and fabric, this window shade could work in just about ANY style of room. And, dare I say, it’s as cute as a button? (My bad.) Anyway, if you’d like to crank one out, here’s a list of materials you’ll need:

  • Measuring tape
  • 2 contrasting fabrics, for front and back of shade
  • Scissors
  • Pins
  • Twill tape
  • Metal ruler
  • Pencil
  • Thread
  • Sewing machine
  • Iron and ironing board
  • Seam ripper
  • 6 buttons
  • Hand-sewing needle
  • Tension rod to fit inside window
