Richard Nickel’s Beautiful Abandoned Buildings

by on Mar 12, 2009

An old decrepit staircase has water damage on the wall.

Photographer Ian Ference, who, in homage to fellow photographer and documentarian, goes by the name Richard Nickel, takes pictures of abandoned buildings in and around the New York area. The motto of his blog, The Kingston Lounge, is ‘Great architecture has only two natural enemies: water, and stupid men.’ Currently, Mr. Ference is offering eleven print for sale–which he considers among his best–through the Lounge. All the prints are unsigned, unmatted and will be sold in unlimited editons for $95 a pop. Study his work and I guarantee you’ll never look at abandoned buildings quite the same way ever again.
