Check out this candlestick designed by Harry Allen. It’s available through Velocity Art and Design for 70 bucks. The plastic resin candlestick is billed as a ‘thoroughly modern cast of an old time Chianti bottle.’ I don’t get it…why not just buy a bottle of Chianti–in the appropriate basket–drink the wine and then shoot some white paint at it? You’d probably want to add a candle ring to prevent wax from dripping on your paint job. Or is getting a durable–and opaque–paint finish on glass a fruitless endeavor? (I’ve only used translucent glass paint.)
