When Lauren’s in-laws downsized and offered up their old roll-top desk, she and her husband gladly accepted it. In perfect condition, there was no need for renovation. As far as style was concerned, it needed resurrection to better align with Lauren and her husband’s tastes. Even though she felt ‘a little criminal to even contemplate painting’ it, she did anyway. Now, I’ve always had a soft spot for roll-top desks, which, when I think about it, are usually oak-y. Anyway, I squirmed a bit at the thought of painting such a quintessential piece of furniture–especially if the person painting drops the ball, or brush as it were–but all trepidation passed when I saw the outcome. Sure, it’s still a roll-top desk, but because of Lauren’s capable hands it is now nearly unrecognizable. Take a look:
