Incredible Wardrobe Makeover

Let’s face it, a lot of furniture makeovers we see around here involve paint, even if the finish is in good condition. The finish of this antique wardrobe (aka chifforobe or chifferobe) that Tami picked up at a church sale for $15 wasn’t. BUT! Did she paint it?? NO! Well, that’s not entirely true, she did end up painting some parts of it, but her intention from the outset was to save as much of the original finish as possible. The ‘after’ is kind of a miracle, especially when you know the rough shape it was in before. Take a look:

Although we can’t see them, Tami says the piece still shows a lot of imperfections. As for the painted parts, she used Annie Sloan Graphite on the top, sides, and insides of the wardrobe, following the application up with heavy Dark Wax. Here’s a closeup of the top. (Beautiful, right?):
