Totally DIY-able Outdoor Flip-Down Sideboard

by on Mar 15, 2012

I am loving this flip-down sideboard from Plow & Hearth. It would be perfect for small outdoor living spaces, and, best yet, it’s totally DIYable. A couple of lengths of chain, some hinges and a latch is all we’d need for hardware. I’d shoot the moon and go for ipe for durability, but in covered and semi-covered areas, any species would do. I spotted this item on Apartment Farm but couldn’t find it on the P&H website, so I can’t tell you if it’s still available or how much it cost. But who cares?? We’re gonna DIY it!

  1. I can’t seem to find the instructions on how to build this? Can anyone point me in the right direction?

  2. Thanks woodwork city. It’s not so much the dimensions but the actual instruction I need!

  3. An old kitchen cabinet would work great it would even make a handy work area in the garage

  4. I think you could actually use a ready made shallow cupboard to create something like this. Just turn it on it’s side and add a shelf or two and some chains and there you go?
