Back in the day, I used to crochet doilies. Although my taste for doilies has waned considerably, I still have every one that I made. Right now they’re tucked in a drawer waiting for a revival of some sort. I’m thinking that one of these doily and hoop tutorials/ideas just might be the dawn of a new doily age for me.
The Doily Dream Catcher pictured above was actually featured last week on Etsy’s How-Tuesdays. It looks especially fabulous on that dark wall, no?
Or how about a hooped doilies used as a window treatment?
Just in time for Halloween is this entry from Betz White.
Looking ahead to Christmas, here’s a simple and unexpected alternative to the holiday wreath.
Remove the Christmas-y ribbon from above, and you have yourself an earring holder.
This last one is actually lace in hoops, but doilies would do nicely as well. Although they’re being used as decoration for a bridal shower, I can imagine them featured in more every day situations. Like hanging above a baby’s crib, for example, as a lovely take on the traditional mobile.
