The Best Before & After Ever: An Unbelievable Kitchen Makeover!

created at: 08/03/2011

Oh my goodness.  This is a makeover for the books, no doubt about it.  Frankly, I'm finding it hard to believe the 'after' is even the same house!

In just under four weeks (!!!), Jodi Mockabee and her family transformed their sad 60s cinder block kitchen into a rustic modern retreat, complete with exposed beams, marble countertops, hardwood floors, and a hand-built farm table (made from reclaimed 1800's barn wood sourced from a house up the road).

HOLY COW.  Best 'before and after' ever, right?  Be sure to check out more on Jodi's blog The Bee Hive!

Kitchens are easy to transform with thousands$$. The internet is full of them, along with all the TV shows! Show us one that took little money. I don't believe in the expense it takes just for room to cook in! & what's with the plastic chairs & lost cupboard space?

Emily on Jun 27, 2012:

Definitely a beautiful space to be in now -- but wait! What happened to that gorgeous stove? I'd have kept that, no question...

What type of wood is the flooring made from? I love it

What kind of treatment on the walls is that? Plaster? Cement? Amazing transformation, indeed. They must be great workers!

"HOLY COW" is exactly what I thought!  I did like the exposed brick in the original though.  It probably wouldn't look good with the white though.

rheath36 on Aug 08, 2011:

Wow is right! what was the budget for that?

DesigningMom on Aug 08, 2011:

Wow! What a wonderful transformation. Bravo!
