Modern Doll Houses

Recently, I stumbled upon these amazing doll houses (read: works of art) by Brinca Dada. Not only would I love to have one of them for our daughter Ayla, but I’d love to live inside one of them. They are simple and stunning.

The company’s philosophy is that “toys should be beautiful and fun.” They believe they should be athestically pleasing to parents and inviting to children. They pride themselves on skipping the flash and noise, in favor of simple lines and environmentally-friendly materials.

The two houses Brinca Dada has on the market are the Emerson and the Bennet houses. The Emerson house has an open floorplan that boasts floor-to-ceiling windows. The house has two fireplaces, recessed LED lighting, solar panels and sliding glass door. I’m moving in, care to join me?

The Bennett townhouse is comprised of a two-story living room, a roof-top pool, an elevator, and solar-powered LED lights. And this place will be my vacation home.

If the houses alone don’t make you swoon, the furniture will do you in. Furnishings are available for seven rooms: living room, dining room, kitchen, bathroom, master bedroom, and a child’s bedroom. Like the houses, all of the furniture is made from high-quality materials and non-toxic, lead-free stains and paints.

The Emerson house and the furniture are available on-line at my favorite toy store, Creative Kidstuff. Both can also be purchased through Brinca Dada’s Web site. The Bennett house won’t be available until spring of 2011.

The houses and furniture sets are spendy (the house costs $329 and the furniture set costs $219), but if you consider the purchase a work of art (I do), the price tag becomes more palatable.
