In typical millennial fashion, I am obsessed with houseplants. It’s a recent obsession, one I only came upon over the past two years. It all started with a single succulent that I scooped up for free because someone was going to toss it in the trash. I took that succulent home, and shortly after, learned how to propagate it.
My one succulent turned into two, and then three, and from there on out, I was hooked. While I’m a few (dozen) houseplants away from being a true #plantlady, I can dream of being as green-thumbed as these 15 women. Keep reading for my favorite plant ladies that you should start following on Instagram.
@studioplants: Jeannie Phan of @studioplants is a full-time illustrator with a side-obsession for plants. She’s based in Canada and has an adorable cat named Odin. Not only has she mastered indoor plants, but this summer she started a rooftop vegetable garden.
@leafandlolo: Dog-mom Lindsay has an eye for plants, and works on filling every corner of her home with greenery. Her account is a welcoming place with a sense of community. There’s always lots of questions and answers happening in the comments of her posts, so you’re sure to learn something new.
@joi.knows.how: D’Ana Joi is a lifestyle blogger who focuses on self-care, plants, and crystals. She recently opened an Etsy store that is basically magic, where she sells her striking photographs. If you visit her YouTube channel, you can hear her covering popular songs on her ukulele, and if you hop over to her blog, you’ll find all sorts of useful articles on how to be your best self ever.
@plantbabystudio: Specializing in plants, floral design, and all things boho, Jenny Morris hails from Toronto. Not only does she snap vintage-y plant pics, but she also shares moments from her event and interiors styling gigs. She also apparently builds her muscles by dead-lifting Fiddle Leaf Fig trees.
@arbor___: Based in Belgium, this mother of two has packed her home to the brim with lovely green plants. Arbør has a cozy but clean sense of interior styling, mixed with minimal, Euro trends.
@leafandjune: “Interior plant design.” Does that sound like the dream professional field? That’s what Lisa Muñoz of @leafandjune does for a living, and she does it so well. Based out of Brooklyn, Lisa is a certified horticulturalist, and specializes in indoor plant design, container gardening, and events, just to name a few of her specialties.
@thebotanicalfeline: A good mixture of travel and plants, this account frequently shares cats’ faces framed through the holes of Monstera leaves. So what’s not to love? Also, one of her cats looks like a lion, and you don’t want to miss out on that.
@arianatanabe: General Manager for Pistils Nursery, Ariana’s life is chock full of foliage. Between work and home, her snapshots include a wide range of plants in various stages. Oh, and she’s currently selling some pretty cute jewelry in her online store.
@mochagirlmarketplace: Tracey Hairston describes herself as a “cool grandma” who is new to the title of “plant lady,” but one look at her account and you can tell she’s just killing it. Her account is a gorgeous blend of bohemian vibes and thrifted finds, many of which you can snag for yourself off her online store.
@larrydoom: This visual designer hailing from the windy city of Chicago has a crush on all things botanical, and we’ve got a crush on her account. Her home is a vintage/boho retreat, and her sweet pup makes several appearances you won’t want to miss.
@noughticulture: Alice Vincent is based in southeast London, and she is very interested in gardening off the ground. She is a writer and editor for several media sources in the UK, and teaches her own workshops on how to keep plants alive and healthy indoors. Follow her account for lots of useful insight into being a good plant keeper.
@affairwiththeplants: Lakshmi Singh from Nepal has a love affair… and it’s with all her gorgeous plants. She homes a wide variety of greens – both indoor and out – many of which I’ve never seen before!
@mamabotanica.amsterdam: A sweet documentation in the life of a plant mama. Visit her YouTube channel (if you speak Dutch) for more plant tips.
@mylittlegreenspace: Her profile reads: “Hello, my name is Marilyn and I’m just a Plant mama living in a tiny Harlem studio.” Perfect, because plants are exactly what we’re all here for.
@lissova_craft: Finally in our plant ladies list is a woman who doesn’t showcase the plants she grows, but rather, the ones she makes! Tania Lissova is a magician when it comes to paper crafting, and her creations are so intricate and detailed, you may just mistake them for the real thing. And fortunately for all of us, her works of art are available for purchase through Etsy.
