The Best Smart Home Products for Lazy People

Have you begun turning your home into a "smart home" yet? I have the pleasure of living with someone who is very invested in the world of smart home products, and he's always looking to try something new to make us lazier and lazier. Newsflash: it's working. We no longer get up to turn off the lights, we don't pull our phones out to play music and we don't even reach for the remote to turn the TV off. Whether you're striving to enjoy your laziness or simply want to embrace the technology available to make your house an ecosystem of connected device, this list of the best smart home products is perfect for you.

Don't worry, it's not actually like that Disney movie Smart House that made me terrified my house was going to turn on me...at least not yet. When adding more products to your home's ecosystem, just make sure to use all of your privacy settings, and hopefully you won't have to worry about your technology turning on you, ha!

The Only Three Home Organization Books You Need To Get Through this Year

The Only Three Home Organization Books You Need To Get Through this Year

Isn't it funny how you can open up Pinterest and get a sense of exactly what time of year it is? A month ago it was filled Christmas ornaments, gifts, decoration, and food selections. Literally, the day after New Years, you open it up and are filled with how you can lose ten pounds in the next two months or start the year organizing your life. In the area of organization, there are so many wonderful ideas and tips that I personally can get overwhelmed by it all. It's like standing in front of a fire hydrant as it shoots out water. Yes, it is a little ironic that I am adding to the overwhelming mix, but I wanted to be simple by paring it down to three books. In my opinion, these are the only three books you will need for your organization goals this year.

Design Blogger Wish List: Ez Pudewa of Creature Comforts

created at: 12/08/2011
This holiday season, Curbly asked our friends, peers, and favorite design bloggers to stop by, have some hot cocoa, and tell us what gifts they'd like to receive this year. Today, we're excited to welcome Ez Pudewa, the founder and editor of Creature Comforts, one of our favorite handmade lifestyle and design blogs.

Hi there! My name is Ez (pronounced ee-zee) and I am most often found on my blog Creature Comforts where I write about DIY craftiness, share my photography, and post design inspirations...as well as any other thing that strikes my fancy. For me the holidays are all about the time you spend making memories with your friends and loved ones. It's fun to dream about presents under the tree, but even more than the gifts that will be unwrapped, the laughter and craziness of my huge family squeezed into one small house are what I look forward to most of all this holiday season. (Okay...and an iPhone. I'm hoping someone in my family will grant that one holiday wish for me). ;-)
