Inspiration Galore: Fall Idea House Tour

by DIY Maven
Fall idea house tour feature image

I recently had the opportunity of touring an "idea house." The property, a charming 1920's bungalow, belongs to and is maintained by a local family-owned company called Bachman's. The idea house is near their flagship store on Lyndale Avenue in south Minneapolis and is maintained as a landmark to celebrate the family's ancestors who lived in the home, conducting business just a few hundred feet away. Although the company is known primarily as a premier garden center, it also offers home decor items a-plenty. They

When Autumn Leaves Start to Wall

by Bruno Bornsztein

When Autumn Leaves Start to Wall

Fun fact: Autumn Leaves was the first jazz standard I learned on guitar back in high school, when I though learning to play jazz guitar would make me cool and get girlfriends. It's a pretty basic song, and a good one to teach a 15-year-old me how to do a chord melody, which, on a guitar, is where you play a song's chords and melody at the same time, and ... hey, isn't this supposed to be a DIY blog!?

Right. So, anyway (no, I didn't...

The reclaimed materials featured in these 20 projects were the main characters of such fairytales. They now act as inspiration to...

I love the fourth of July just as much as the next girl, but I'm not the biggest fan of cheesy, literal decorations and DIYs - I prefer a more subtle look for my Independence Day celebrations. So psyched to be able to share the first of two projects from my recently released book, MASON JAR NATION (Cool Springs Press, 2016)! This DIY hanging air plant (tillandsia) planter is found in the "Crafts" section of the book and it's one of my favorites. (Although, to be honest, there are a lot of favorites in the book--as it should be, otherwise they wouldn't have made it into the book!) This project ranks medium on the
