Until I spotted Diane's post on Craftstylish, I had no idea you could actually make porcelain. Sure, you can do the polymer clay route, but this DIY method is so much more awesome. Diane says cold porcelain is the perfect medium to make small objects and jewelry bobbles.

To make cold porcelain, you'll need:

  • 3/4 cup white glue
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 teaspoon cold cream (like Pond's)
  • 1 teaspoon glycerin
  • 1 cup cornstartch + a bit more for dusting...

Fabric that "Melts" in Water

Two professors--one of fashion, the other of science--teamed up to fabricate melting fabric which was then used to make high-end couture-type togs. The dresses are part of a UK touring fashion exhibit entitled 'Wonderland'. The dresses, made of a polymer, are dipped into vessels of water and left to 'melt' into a gel-like substance that can be used to germinate seeds.
