Cuteness Overload: Ikea Rocking Moose Hack

by DIY Maven
Ikea Ekorre Before

I agree with Sarah, the genius behind this Ikea rocking moose (aka Ekorre $39.99) hack: it's pretty cute as is. However, the red red coat just wasn't working with Sarah's decor. So...she decided to change its species and turn Ekorre into a rocking SHEEP. As you can imagine, changing species called for some cosmetic surgery. First came rhinoplasty, as said moose's schnauz wasn't right at all. A nip and tuck and he soon had a...

by Bruno Bornsztein

Make an IKEA-hacked concrete pendant lamp

Are you a fan of IKEA hacking? Do you love concrete? Of course you do! This light pendant project employs ShapeCrete, a uniquely shape-able concrete that allows the user to “pack” the mixture into a form, eliminating the need for complicated knockouts and additional forming supplies (read: save money, time and headaches). by DIY Maven

IKEA kitchen before

The kitchen in Allie's 1978 home looks nothing like this anymore thanks in large part to some strategic demolition and IKEA. The demo bit came when she and her husband knock down the wall between their kitchen and dining room to create one open space. The wood flooring was removed and replaced with something that unified the expansion. When it came time to furnish the area, IKEA cabinets were chosen

Mostorp Before

Kortiny wanted a mid-century modern credenza for her new house, but the cost of such was not in the cards. So, like any good DIYer, she set out to make her own with the help of an IKEA Mostorp TV Unit. Haven't heard of the Mostorp? That's because it's a new product, which just happened to be perfect for Kortiny's hack. Although it had the right overall vibe, its legs were

IKEA Tarva Hack Before

It started with a TARVA 5-drawer chest  that she found on Craigslist for $50 ($99.99 new at IKEA), then she added a little paint to the supplies list, label pulls, cup pulls, casters and a bit of lumber for a grand total of this:

Extreme Makeover: IKEA Tarva Dresser Turned Bar Cabinet
Photo: Addicted 2 DIY

The lovely thing about IKEA's Tarva dressers--besides their low sticker price--is their blank-canvas quality. They can easily be painted and stained to make them one of a kind creations. Katie, from Addicted 2 DIY can attest to this, as she not only (eventually) painted and stained her Tarva 3-drawer dresser, she took its makeover to the extreme by breaking out the power tools and turning it into a bar cabinet, complete
