Last month, we featured ten modern DIY art projects that ranged from bold and graphic to subdued and subtle. We're back at it again with a fresh new roundup of contemporary art inspiration -- and it's all stuff you can make yourself (of course). Enjoy!
I'm a big believer in surrounding yourself with art and think kids deserve awesome art, too! Here are a few of my favorite prints from talented artist and illustrators from around the globe. Check them out and if you know of anyone else who should be on the list, tell us in the comments!
Our mail inevitably ends up in a massive pile on the little desk in our kitchen. It grows and grows and, needless to say, we avoid that area like the plague. I wonder if having an adorable mail basket holder like this one would make the chore of sorting through it more enjoyable? Maybe??
I'm not telling you anything you don't already know when I say frames can be expensive. They're oftentimes more expensive than the stuff we put in them, which doesn't seem fair as it's the art that's the main course, and the frame is just the pretty table setting. Yeah, it can make the meal more appetizing, but still. Wait...are we still talking about frames here? Yes and no because most of these fabulous mounting and hanging ideas don't even involve them. So, on to the roundup!
This first one is actually my own project using supplies
Unfortunate wallpaper trim, awkwardly-sized curtains, and a crib the size of Texas: I think it's safe to say this master bedroom needs some serious help!
Summer is coming, which means lots of time outdoors, picnics, BBQs, and festivities! All these events? They mean cold beverages better be at-the-ready. Check out this clever upcycled drink carrier!
These insanely detailed miniature food sculptures are made by artist Shay Aaron using regular ol' polymer clay (you know, "Sculpey", that craft store staple). Don't they look good enough to eat??
I'm a sucker for creative DIYs that are simple and fall under the "one afternoon" time frame. So, when I spotted this clever cork pencil holder and office organizer, I immediately perked up and thought "I can DO this!".
The folks at FLOR wanted us to let you know about their fresh & new styles and color combos perfect for summer. Of course the great thing about FLOR is their DIY friendliness, but they are also a perfect way to exercise your creative muscles and add color and personality to any space. The hallway runner above consists of no less than 7 different styles. They are Made You Look in Turquoise and Palm, Level Setting in Brown, Heaven Sent in Eggnog, Parallel Reality in Teal, Remembrance in Fuchsia and Just Plain Folk in Linen.
More mellow than the first image but unique in its own
How cute is this little wood veneer mobile?? I kind of want to make a million of them... and then, I guess, give them away? I don't know what I'd do with a million adorable mobiles. But, gosh darnit, I want to make 'em!
The second installment in our wall art shopping guide series is here! In keeping with the typography theme from yesterday, we've rounded up 24 totally awesome prints from talented designers and artists across the Interwebs. Enjoy!

Just because your walls and furniture are Neutral City, USA doesn't mean you can't bring color in! My favorite way to do that is through big, bright, high-impact art. Here are a few spaces that do that well--and with some serious flair.
I thought these DIY paper pencils would fit in quite nicely with the "art" theme we're rocking this month. The possibilities are as endless and pretty and artsy as you want them to be!
Part installation piece, part upcycling genius, this DIY water bottle chandelier is a cinch to make!
I just walked around my house and made a quick inventory of how many silhouette images I have as wall art in my home. The count currently stands at 10, but that number increases drastically depending on what holiday decor I have out throughout the year.
You could argue that I like silhouettes. A lot.
Here are 12 silhouette art ideas that might inspire yet another piece to add to my collection.
The "before" looks familiar, yes? A discarded bench, sad and lonely without a seat to call its own. Before you pass a similar one by, check out this creative makeover!
Even though outdoor/plant/garden projects were so last month*, I had to share this adorable little DIY planter idea. Mostly because it's so simple and awesome, but also because it could make a sweet Mother's Day gift, too!
