12 DIY Wall Art Ideas Using Silhouettes

I just walked around my house and made a quick inventory of how many silhouette images I have as wall art in my home.  The count currently stands at 10, but that number increases drastically depending on what holiday decor I have out throughout the year.

You could argue that I like silhouettes.  A lot.

Here are 12 silhouette art ideas that might inspire yet another piece to add to my collection.

Roundup: 10 DIY Paint Chip Art Projects

Just when I think we've reached the tipping point in the popularity of paint chip art, I see something new that makes me think that the medium still has legs. Take a look at these ideas and tell me what you think. From 'crafty' to all out Art (note the capital 'A'), the lowly chips certainly inspire. The first project, pictured above, is

How to Turn 1 Table into 2 Shelves

Beckie's grandma and grandpa gave her an old rickety table that was set for the trash heap. Beckie stepped in and saved the table. The only problem was she didn't need a table. Shelves, however, she could use. Her friend Mike used a jigsaw to saw the the table in half. A shot of primer and spray paint later, and this is what it looks like now:

How to: Make a Cardboard Chandelier

How to: Make a Cardboard Chandelier
Am I the only one that loves the smell of new cardboard? Not quite like paper and not quite like wood, its scent evokes a sense of possibilities. I'm guessing Kayte, author of Paper Made, knows exactly what I'm talking about, for she created this so-cool chandelier of that very lowly material. She tells us it takes some careful cutting but virtually no

Roundup: DIY Outdoor Furniture Ideas

Um, have you tried to buy outdoor furniture lately? It's expensive! So, rather than wait 'til the end-of-season sales roll around, take matters into your own hands. Here are seven awesome DIY ideas for you.

DIY outdoor sofa

The fantastic Ana White designed her version of a Restoration Hardware sofa for only $30 in lumber! I think it would look beautiful stained, as well.

hanging swing daybed

Ok, one more Ana White project! I couldn't resist sharing it. If you have rafters or beams to hang this from, I forsee never getting up all summer long.

DIY Pallet Sofa

There are LOTS of DIY pallet projects out there, but this one is my fave. Why? Because you can't see the dang pallets. Let's face it: they're ugly, people! Nina at Stylizmo just stacked two and added throws and pillows. Easy peasy.

DIY pallet succulent table

Here's another pallet project gone right. Matti at Far Out Flora reconstructed one, adding legs and a trough for succulents. I'm kind of obsessed with it, truly.

DIY Hammock

If your sewing skills are up to par, you could create this DIY hammock from Going Home to Roost. The throw pillow makes it for me.

cinderblock bench

This certainly isn't for everyone, but I love how this cinderblock sofa almost takes on a kid-like quality. It's like it's built out of legos! I'd probably toss a cushion across the bench seat, but I love the plants organically growing out of the back.

DIY Chair Swing

How great is this chair swing?! I love the bright yellow paint job and these chairs can easily be found at thrift stores and garage sales. Simona built a platform for the ropes to thread through, which seems to be sturdier than some methods I've seen where the rope is threaded through the chair seat itself.

Any of these strike your fancy? Which one would you most love to walk outside your back door and find?

Make It: Egg Candles

These sweet little egg candles are a snap to make. Heidi says 1/3 pounds of beeswax filled six hollowed out eggshells to complete her project. The candlelight through the shells is particularly lovely, no? For the entire how-to, visit Mom's Crafty Space.
