Comments - Curbly Video Podcast: How to Make Hand-Printed Fleece Scarves.

EvenSewSteph on Nov 23, 2013:

Fleece is typically 58 to 60 inches wide, long enough for a scarf.  I think these are one layer, but even at only 4 inches wide, that would be only 9 full scarves.  I prefer wider, two layer scarves, turned, so that the seams are inside.  Just commenting because most fleece is not 45" as someone asked.

I want to know how you manage to cut 10 scarves out of 1 yard of fleece! To be long enough to wrap anound your neck- (width of fabric =45 inches),the scarves would have to be about 3 1/2 inches wide...I make lots of scarves, and the most I can get from a yard is 6. Hmmmmm...?

Chrisjob on Mar 17, 2011:

Richard, sure, but you certainly don't use an entire pot of paint on one scarf. You could get a yard of fabric, a roll of contact paper, a brush, and paint for around $12-14, and make at least 10 of these.

Richard May on Mar 16, 2011:

This is a charming idea and well executed but I have to take issue with your assertion that the project would cost less than $2.00. Apparently you haven't been keeping up with the prices of fabric paint lately, as even a small pot costs well over $2.00!

Speaking of sewing machines, check out my mother-in-law's:

created on: 12/18/08

Made the same year she was born (1948), as she always says, and solid as a rock. Thought you sewing junkies might enjoy that!

1). I have to be clean to feel creative.

2). No, I just used some clear tape that I tried to keep hidden.

3). Thanks for your encouragement.

I DID get the sewing machine, but I haven't run it yet, since it's my Christmas present, and my wife says I'd be cheating. It does way something like 35 pounds, so I'm pretty convinced it'll be dope.
