Great srticle... I already have a pizza oven.
But I am wondering instead of bricks .... would the stones you recommend be OK to use in the Pizza oven?? The rectangular or circular slab of ceramic???
Please recommend ... thanks.

I would not recommend flagstone. I guess that's the same as a sand stone and not real good int he oven. Dang! Maybe I should have paid retail!

Also watch out for sandstone which is not a very strong stone once heated. Thanks for the great tip.

Great tip! The only thing I would add is to be careful what "natural" product you choose. Shale is a type of stone that may have water trapped inside which would cause the stone to explode/shatter. I'm not sure if there are other types to be aware of.

Hey thanks for this cool idea! We love home made pizza, but never seem to get the crust just right. It's got to be the lack of a stone while cooking.
I saved the dough recipe too!
