Like many bloggers and freelancers, my laptop is my life! So having a cushioned laptop sleeve to protect it is really important whenever I travel with it. My boring foam laptop sleeve just needed an upgrade to feel more personalized, so I figured out this fun way to add some bold, graphic lettering to the front to really make it pop.
The trick? Iron-on vinyl! It's such a useful craft supply, and when I came across this rose colored foiled vinyl, I couldn't wait to try it. Although it will be much easier to make this project using a cutting machine, you don't necessarily need one. Using a craft knife and a stencil, you can still cut out your desired saying and iron it on your laptop sleeve.
- Plain fabric laptop sleeve
- Foil iron-on vinyl
- Cutting machine or craft knife and template
- Dish towel
Plan the design for the laptop case using your computer or a stencil. Invert the image before cutting (very important!).
Either cut the vinyl with a cutting machine on the iron-on setting or with a craft knife, cutting only through the foil, not the plastic backing.
Weed the foil surrounding your image so that only the inverted image is left on the plastic backing.
Place the foil image down on the laptop sleeve with the plastic baking facing up. Cover with a dish towel or a pillowcase.
Press with an iron on the wool setting with the steam off. Iron back and forth for about one minute before carefully removing the plastic to reveal the complete image.
Just like that you have a pretty foiled case with your desired saying! It lasts very well over time and shines just right in the light ;)
