As a baker, crafter and all-around mess-maker, having a multitude of cleaners on hand at all times is a must. After a while, my cabinets became packed with various cleaners that I just didn't need, so I sought out a way to narrow them down, and better yet, I did it by making my own all-purpose cleaner using items around the house that will clean just about anything.
Household items like vinegar, lemon and baking soda can be used in a variety of cleaning supplies in different amounts and combinations. In this case, I diluted the vinegar with a large amount of water, added baking soda and mixed in a little lemon for scent. I found the lemon very helpful because vinegar doesn't have an enjoyable odor, but the large amount of water helps dilute it. With this combination, you can clean floors, kitchens, bathrooms, etc. with just one cleaner that won't expire, and you know exactly what's in it. I also linked a label below that you can print on sticker paper and stick right on your spray bottle!
- 4 cups water
- 1/4 cup vinegar
- 2 tbsp baking soda
- A few drops of lemon juice
- Plastic spray bottle
- Printable "All-Purpose Cleaner" label
- Sticker paper
Stir all ingredients together and pour into a spray bottle. The vinegar and baking soda will cause a bubbling at first, but it will quickly calm down.
To make the label, print the above linked printable label (or make your own) on sticker paper, cut it out and stick to the front of the bottle.
Simply spray it on a surface and wipe with a cloth or paper towel. It cleans well and has very little scent to it, and best of all, it has no harsh chemicals.
