When Ariel and her husband moved into their current home, the office walls were a bland flesh color that didn’t spark much creativity – but just wait until you see what it looks like now that Ariel has gotten her hands on it. I’ll give you a hint… you’ll be green with envy once you see it! Click through to read all about the makeover process.
The new space is vibrant and energetic, thanks to a bold color scheme and lots of unique decorative accents. Ariel Garneau, of PMQ For Two, choose a deep kelly green for the walls called Perennial Green by Behr. She added lots of reds and pinks to play up the eye-catching effect that complimentary colors always seem to have. “I use my home office as my craft and workspace as well, so there was a very good chance that it would occupy the background in whatever posts I did going forward, so I wanted a strong colour that would show well,” says Ariel. “The second I started throwing colour swatches on the wall, it felt right.”
As a décor blogger and business woman, Ariel needed a space that was both inspiring and functional. The cabinets are stock cupboards from ClosetMaid, but she added decorative molding to give them a built-in feel. They hide all of her craft materials and other office supplies.
Touches of gold and brass add a glamorous vibe to the space. She swapped out the original cupboard knobs for wooden ones that she painted a baby blue color.
“I usually count myself as part of the ‘more is more is more’ school of interior design, but I knew that wouldn’t be as functional in this small workspace. Believe it or not, this is paired-down for me!” jokes Ariel.
While the space has a relaxed, inviting feel, it is clear that every part of the space is intentional and has been chosen for a specific reason. I think I’d want to craft all day every day if I had a space like this! Head over to Ariel’s blog PMQ For Two to read more about this fantastic makeover.
